Urgent Need: Join the Bone Marrow Donor Registry

Kris Miner of Leawood, Kansas, has a rare form of cancer, Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma (CTCL), which has transformed into Stage 4B Large Cell Lymphoma. She is one of only 10 people in the world at any one time to have this type of cancer. Her PET scan revealed tumors on her skin, lungs and lymph nodes.

The best hope Kris has for recovery is a bone marrow transplant. Currently, of the more than 17 million people registered as bone marrow donors, not one provides a close enough DNA match for Kris.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please join the Bone Marrow Donor Registry today. Kris urgently needs to find a matching bone marrow donor in the next 7-9 weeks. We are specifically seeking individuals with German or Dutch heritage to join the registry as a potential match for Kris, though everyone between the ages of 18 and 60 is encouraged to join.

For more information, see the Bone Marrow Donation page.

MESSAGE FROM KRIS: Ken and I are grateful for the outpouring of support and prayers from our family and friends. As you know, I’ve been diagnosed with transformed cutaneous t-cell lymphoma and I’ve already started my treatment. Your encouraging messages and positive thoughts mean a great deal to me and give me strength for the days and weeks ahead.

Our purpose in starting this blog is to keep you up to speed on my progress at all times. I also hope to reassure you that I’m in the best of hands and am doing just fine. Many of you have called to express your concern and offer assistance, which Ken and I appreciate tremendously. We would love to speak with each of you individually, but there’s never enough time in the day to share as much information as we’d like. So we hope you will rely on this blog as your primary source of information, and we’ll connect with you individually as much as we can.

On the Updates page of the blog, we’ll post regular news on my progress toward recovery. For those of you looking for more detailed information, I invite you to visit the following pages:

For those looking to help, please visit the Bone Marrow Donation page to register to learn more about becoming a bone marrow donor or making a financial contribution to the National Bone Marrow Donor Program.

Please note that all of these pages will be updated with details as soon as they become available. We are at a very early stage in the process right now, and much is unknown. As my diagnosis is solidified and my medical team and treatment plan take shape, I’ll update the site so you have access to the latest information.

Again, thank you for your support. Ken and I ask for your continued prayers over the coming weeks as we set out on this journey toward recovery. We also invite you to share your comments here on the blog so our kids can read them and be encouraged.
